SIMA Fest returned for its 11th year as the Media and Communication Arts Department hosted the 2025 edition on November 26. Since its launch in 2015, SIMA Fest has grown into a signature student film competition and creative showcase, bringing together student filmmakers and media creators from across the department. The festival has served as a space where students can share their work, exchange ideas, and learn from one another, continuing that tradition again this year.

The festival embraced a Retro theme, with red carpet entrances and nostalgic décor bringing a stylish, vintage vibe to the event. A total of six student-produced videos were screened, featuring a wide range of genres including short films, music videos, dramas, and documentaries. Each piece highlighted the student creators’ reflections, perspectives, and artistic storytelling, demonstrating the depth and versatility of Global Media and Communication Arts students.

The event also featured a special lecture from an invited media industry expert, offering students valuable insight into real-world media production and inspiration for their future projects.

Following each screening, student creators participated in a Q&A session, giving the audience an opportunity to dive deeper into the ideas, challenges, and creative processes behind the works. Between screenings, attendees enjoyed interactive games and event segments that kept the audience energized and engaged.

SIMA Fest concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing both Korean and international teams. First place was awarded to Ekaterina Volikova for her music video Rebirth, a visually compelling interpretation of the emotional stages of a breakup. Her work captivated both the judges and audience, earning her SIMA Fest's highest award.
