On March 24, 2026, Woosong University welcomed three researchers from the Georgia Institute of Technology for a special lecture covering game development, game studies, UI/UX, VR, and speculative design.

Dr. Andrew Phelps, Professor and Director of the American University Game Center, walked students through the realities of teaching game production at scale, covering team structure, agile production methods, and lessons from real-world projects including a collaboration with the NFL's Buffalo Bills. He also addressed the growing role of AI tools in shaping the future of game development.
Dr. Ryan Scheiding, founding director of the Game Philosophy and Design Lab (GamePaD Lab) at Georgia Tech, shared his research on Korean historical themes in games, including the Japanese Colonial Period and the Imjin War, alongside his student-based game design pedagogy through the GamePaD Lab.
Soyoun Jang, a Ph.D. Candidate in Digital Media at Georgia Tech, presented her research on "Historicising Speculative Design," introducing a framework for applying speculative design historically to better understand alternative presents and the complexity of historical contingency. Her broader research includes projects on inclusive VR, VR as a writing space, and VR for climate change and sustainability.
The session gave Woosong students a rare opportunity to engage directly with researchers working across game education, interactive media, and digital design.
