Recruitment Notice for the 21st Friends of Korea 첨부파일

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism operates the “Facts About Korea” service and the “Friends of Korea” program to share accurate information and the beauty of Korean culture with the world.


We welcome applications from those who wish to correct misinformation about Korea overseas and promote accurate information.


Recruitment Overview

Number of participants: Around 40 people

Activity period: July 15, 2026 – December 31, 2026 / 5.5 months

Eligibility:

Koreans and foreigners aged 18 or older, living in Korea or overseas.

Foreign applicants must be able to use Korean at a level sufficient to participate as a member.


Selection Criteria

Applicants should:

- Have knowledge of and interest in Korea, including Korean culture, history, and related topics.

- Be able to use their language skills to:

  - Research Korea-related information in overseas media

  - Report incorrect information

  - Promote the Facts About Korea service both online and offline


Preferred Qualifications

Language Ability:

- Ability to speak both English and a second foreign language

- Applicants with official language test scores are preferred

- Second foreign languages include Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, French, Indonesian, etc.


Related Experience / Career:

Preferred applicants include those who:

- Major in related fields such as language/literature, journalism/media, international relations, or international trade

- Work in related fields such as journalism, cultural promotion, or international exchange

- Have experience in correcting misinformation, content creation, or working in government/public institutions


Other:

Preferred applicants include those who:

- Actively use social media such as Instagram or YouTube

- Are exchange students, international students, or people involved in overseas exchange activities

- Overseas residents are preferred


Recruitment Schedule

The schedule may change.

Recruitment period:

June 1, 2026, 9:00 AM – June 30, 2026, 5:00 PM

Announcement of successful applicants:

July 15, 2026

Opening ceremony and training:

Sometime in July

Successful applicants will be notified individually by email and informed about the opening ceremony schedule. All successful applicants must attend the opening ceremony and training. Failure to attend may result in cancellation of acceptance. Overseas residents may participate online in real time.


How to Apply

1. Log in to the Facts About Korea website:

   www.factsaboutkorea.go.kr

   Membership registration is required.

2. Go to the “Friends of Korea” menu.

3. Click “Application and Result Check” → Recruitment Notice.

4. Attach a self-introduction video of about 2 minutes as a file or link.

5. Complete and submit the application form.


The application is only considered complete when the “View Application” button is activated.


Main Activities and Activity Format

Facts About Korea Activities:

- Analyze overseas Korea-related information

- Report incorrect information about Korea

Promotional Activities:

- Promote the Facts About Korea service to Koreans and foreigners

- Activities may be online or offline

Activity Format:

- Activities will be carried out both individually and in teams of 4–5 members

- Teams will be formed and announced by the program manager


Benefits

Participants will receive:

- Activity guidebook, souvenirs, and other activity materials

- Opportunities to participate in training programs, meetings, and related events

- Recognition of volunteer hours through the 1365 Volunteer Portal

- Certificate of participation, based on standards to be announced later

- Outstanding participants may receive:

  - A commendation from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism

  - An award certificate under the name of the Friends of Korea Director


Important Notes

- Only applications submitted through the Facts About Korea website are valid.

- Applications submitted through any other method will not be accepted.

- Temporarily saved applications can be edited before the deadline.

- Final submitted applications cannot be edited.

- Submitted documents will only be used for screening purposes and will not be returned.

- Applicants may be disqualified if the application contains false information.

- Any disadvantages caused by mistakes, missing information, or incorrect entries are the applicant’s responsibility.

- The recruitment and operation schedule may change depending on circumstances.
