Earlier this month, Global Media and Communication students had the unique opportunity to visit the production facilities of the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) and Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), two of Korea’s leading public broadcasting stations. The field trip provided students with hands-on experience in using media technologies and offered them a behind-the-scenes look at how these stations operate.
Nanor, a fourth-year student, shared her experience of the visit, which began at KBS with a live music show recording featuring renowned ballad singers. The group then attended a lecture on live broadcasting, focusing on real-time audio and video mastering/editing during airtime. Despite the lecture being in Korean, a KBS producer served as a guide and provided translations, ensuring the students could follow along.
The students also visited a concert set for a live trot broadcast, where they practiced using various cameras and cranes, gaining practical experience with professional equipment designed for large-scale productions.
The trip provided invaluable exposure to the day-to-day responsibilities of media professionals, from content creation to technical operations. It was an eye-opening and inspiring experience, equipping students with practical knowledge and a deeper appreciation for the skills required to excel in the media industry.
