Transition Period Policy (Spring 2023)

Writer : IAC | Date : 2023.02.24 | Hit : 1,440

**This is an annoucement for new international students starting at Woosong University in Spring 2023 Semester.**

Woosong University understands that some new international students may be late arriving in the Republic of Korea due to visa issuance delays. We therefore have a Transition Period to assist new students to attend classes online whilst they wait to come to Korea. If you are already in Korea, please attend classes face-to-face. If you are a new student still overseas due to visa issuance delay, read on for further details.

Transition Period

All courses, except pre-approved practical classes, will be offered in hybrid mode till Week 5 of the semester, 2023.03.31 (Fri). After this date, only face-to-face courses will be available. All students who have arrived in Korea must attend face-to-face. Those who have not arrived in Korea yet due to visa issuance delay may attend online via Zoom/other online provision till their visa is issued.

The Learning Management System (LMS) is where professors communicate with students, upload teaching materials and Zoom links. Log in using the same password you use for the infosystem to message your professor and get Zoom links.

Attendance Policy

Students should attend, either face-to-face or on Zoom/other online provision, to be marked 'present' for a class. If you do not attend, you will be marked 'absent'. If you are absent for a valid reason (e.g., illness) complete an Excused Absence Form (more details from your TA).

It is important for students to note that, in the Republic of Korea, attendance counts towards students' final grades. For most courses, attendance counts as 20% of the final grade for the semester. Furthermore, an absence rate (excluding official Excused Absence) of 33% or more will lead to an automatic 'F' grade.

Note: this policy applies only to Spring 2023 Semester new freshman, transfer, exchange, study abroad and visiting students and not to currently enrolled students.

We know that moving to a new country, especially when there are visa issuance delays, can be stressful. Your professors will do their best to support you in this process.

If you have any questions, contact the International Administrative Center (W19 218).
