Woosong University Celebrates 70th Anniversary with Global Garden Opening and Cultural Festival

On October 16, the Woosong Educational Foundation celebrated its 70th anniversary with a series of events, including the opening of the new Woosong Global Garden, and SolBridge’s 2024 Culture Day.
This anniversary was more significant this year because of Woosong University's recent accomplishments on the global stage. Woosong ranked in the ‘THE World University Rankings 2025’, placing between 1201-1500 globally. In South Korea, it ranked 31st among domestic universities and 1st private universities in the Chungcheong region.
Additionally it also was ranked 1st in Korea in "International Outlook" because of its diverse international student body, with over 3,000 students from 87 countries. Woosong University also made its mark in the WURI 2024 rankings, securing 60th place in Entrepreneurial Spirit and 93rd in Student Support and Engagement.
Highlights on October 16th
Opening of Woosong Global Garden: The Woosong Global Garden was designed around the university's symbol, the hydrangea, featuring plants from over 60 countries. This new garden on campus symbolizes the university’s global outlook. The garden was made possible by donating 120 million KRW (approximately $90,000) from 20 alumni.
Culture Day and Global Performances: The 2024 Culture Day, hosted by SolBridge International Business School, showcased traditional performances from students representing Brazil, Portugal, Mexico, and Armenia. The event celebrated cultural exchange, bringing together Korean students, international students, and residents.
Remarks by Honorary Chair Kim Seong-Gyeong: Honorary Chair Kim expressed gratitude for the university's 70-year journey and reaffirmed Woosong's global vision. The university aims to foster specialized education for the future, with goals to welcome 5,000 international students and continue growing as a global institution under the slogan "70 years of specialization, 100 years of globalization."
