On May 7, 2025, Woosong University proudly hosted a special event to engage students from Central Asia and celebrate the launch of its new campus in Kazakhstan. This event marked an important milestone in Woosong’s efforts to expand educational opportunities in the region and create a vibrant, multicultural community for its students. 76 students from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, all enrolled in Woosong’s English-taught programs, attended the gathering.

The event opened with warm welcome remarks from Honorary Chairman Kim Kyung Sung, Ph.D., and Spencer Shim, Dean of the Office of International Affairs. Both speakers highlighted the strategic role of the Kazakhstan campus as a gateway for educational exchange and collaboration across Central Asia. “This campus will not only provide quality education but also serve as a hub for cultural exchange and innovation,” said the Honorary Chairman.

A key part of the program was a detailed presentation about the upcoming Kazakhstan campus, which is scheduled to welcome its first cohort of students in Fall 2025. Regional Director Prof. Rezia Usman and Director of Admissions Prof. Sam Kang introduced the innovative academic programs that will be offered, with a special focus on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. They also explained the various pathways available for students to study at Woosong’s Korea campus, along with admissions requirements. The new campus will combine Woosong’s advanced teaching methods and modern facilities to prepare students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in today’s global environment.

The event also featured an interactive session for students interested in becoming ambassadors for the Kazakhstan campus. This program aims to recruit motivated leaders who will represent Woosong University throughout Central Asia and promote the university’s high educational standards. 33 students signed up to become ambassadors.

The day ended with a lively networking session, where students had the chance to meet university representatives, learn more about the ambassador application process, and explore future scholarship opportunities. The atmosphere was full of enthusiasm as many students expressed eagerness to contribute to the growth of higher education in their home countries.

Following the event, the WSUK Ambassador Certification Ceremony took place on May 15 at SolBridge International School of Business.Out of the selected ambassadors, 14 students received their official certificates during the ceremony. The session also covered important responsibilities and expectations for WSUK Ambassadors.

We are confident that the ambassadors will play a vital role in raising awareness of WSUK not only within their home countries but also throughout the broader Central Asian region and beyond. We sincerely thank everyone involved for their dedication and support in reaching this important milestone for Woosong University, and we look forward to the continued growth and success that lies ahead.
